Whether a beginner, intermediate or expert angler, you can float with an experienced Orvis endorsed fishing guide down the beautiful Bitterroot River, West Fork or East Fork of the Bitterroot River, for a memorable day of trout fishing. Fly Fishing Always guides are the best in the area when it comes to knowing these waters. Guides are experts on the hatches and proper flies to use. Complimentary Orvis fishing gear is available from Triple Creek Ranch and your guide will furnish the rods, reels, flies and his or her expertise. Your guide will pick you up in the main parking area of the lodge at your scheduled time. Some guides have "boat dogs," if you prefer not to have a "boat dog," please let us know upon booking your trip.
The Bitterroot River is a freestone, blue ribbon river with its headwaters at the upper end of the Bitterroot Valley, just west of the Continental Divide. It flows north through the valley into the Clark Fork River, west of Missoula. Our river is about 98 miles long including the East and West Forks and offers blue ribbon fishing for trout including Rainbow, Brown and West Slope Cutthroat. The Bitterroot River provides the best opportunity to catch brown trout over twenty-two inches on a dry fly. Notorious for very heavy aquatic insect hatches, the Bitterroot is another scenic and classic Montana trout river. More than any of the other area rivers, the Bitterroot is the place to fish for big trout on dries during the spring skwala hatch. The history of the area, the amazing scenery and excellent fishing make the Bitterroot one of the best places to fish, whether spring, summer of fall.
We practice Catch and Release fishing as there have not been any fish introduced into the Bitterroot since the 1940’s and all fish caught are wild.
